FirstNet Takes Action to Prepare Organization, Network for Successful Public-Private Partnership

(CHICAGO) The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) is moving forward to prepare for a successful public-private partnership to deploy and operate the nationwide public safety broadband network (Network). Meeting this week in Chicago, the FirstNet Board provided strategic guidance to position the organization for a future public-private partnership and to facilitate Network deployment and adoption following award of the contract, which remains on track for November 2016.

FirstNet CEO Poth Testifies Before Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Communications

FirstNet CEO Mike Poth today testified before the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet at a hearing titled, “FirstNet Oversight: An Update on the Status of the Public Safety Broadband Network." In his remarks, Mike stressed the importance of remembering that “this is not FirstNet’s network; this is public safety’s network. The public safety community fought for the creation of FirstNet, and it is up to us to achieve their vision.”

FirstNet to Hold Public Meeting of the Public Safety Advisory Committee

May 31, 2016 – (RESTON, VA) The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) will convene an open public meeting of the Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) on June 6, 2016 in San Diego, Cali. The PSAC will discuss working group and task team updates.

FirstNet Extends Proposal Deadline to May 31

April 11, 2016 – (RESTON, VA) The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) announced today that it extended the deadline for proposals for the deployment of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN) by two and a half weeks, from May 13 to May 31, 2016.

The Board’s approval advances FirstNet's Strategic Program Roadmap and moves FirstNet a step closer to establishing a public-private partnership to build, operate, and maintain the NPSBN.
