FirstNet Board Approves Spectrum Lease Agreement With The State of Texas

August 19, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – The First Responder Network Authority’s (FirstNet) board today approved a spectrum manager lease agreement with the state of Texas, allowing the state to continue work on a local public safety broadband network in Harris County. FirstNet will lease Texas spectrum usage rights to operate on the 700 MHz public safety broadband spectrum, the single, nationwide license which was granted to FirstNet by the Federal Communications Commission.

FirstNet Holds First State Plan Consultation Meeting in Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) today joined public safety communications officials from across Maryland to hold the first in a series of meetings with all 56 states and territories working together to build a nationwide public safety broadband network. FirstNet Finance Committee Green-lights Work on Program Roadmap

WASHINGTON – The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Board’s Finance Committee today approved Fiscal Year 2014 (FY14) guidelines that will enable FirstNet to advance the implementation of its program roadmap. The adoption of Finance Committee Resolution 2 will fund key activities – including business strategy development, network development, outreach and consultation, and operating infrastructure – in FY14 toward achieving the roadmap’s milestones. The Finance Committee held a special meeting via a public teleconference.

FirstNet Board to Launch Nationwide Search for New General Manager

WASHINGTON – The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Board announced today that it is launching a search for a new General Manager following Bill D’Agostino’s resignation for personal and family reasons. Effective immediately Deputy General Manager TJ Kennedy is assuming the General Manager duties on a temporary basis while the FirstNet Board looks to hire a permanent replacement.

FirstNet Board Meets on Strategic Roadmap

WASHINGTON – The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Board today voted to proceed toward several important milestones along the authority’s preliminary strategic roadmap – a course of action designed to ensure the building and management of a nationwide, interoperable, public safety communications network. The roadmap will assist in developing a definitive business plan, along with comprehensive state-based outreach and consultation plans.

FirstNet Board Chairman Ginn Names Sue Swenson Vice Chair; Frank Freeman III Hired as Chief Administrative Officer

DENVER – First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) Board Chairman Sam Ginn announced that he has named Board member Sue Swenson as vice chairman. Ginn tasked Swenson with overseeing the Board’s extensive planning and oversight work.
