FirstNet Finance Committee Special Meeting November 17, 2014

This Special Meeting of the Finance Committee will be conducted via teleconference on November 17, 2014 at 9:30 am EST. Members of the public may listen to the meeting by dialing toll-free 1-888-997-9859 and using passcode “FirstNet.” Due to the limited number of ports, attendance via teleconference will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Correction/Comment Extension: Public Notice on Proposed Interpretations of Parts of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) published a notice and request for comments in the Federal Register on September 24, 2014, titled “Proposed Interpretations of Parts of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012” (RFC). The RFC inadvertently included an imprecise summary of the proposed definition of “rural.” This notice corrects that error by asking commenters to disregard that summary. FirstNet is also extending the comment period for the RFC to align with the response deadline in a related Request for Information that seeks input from interested parties on approaches to, and objectives for, establishing a nationwide interoperable public safety broadband network. Submit comments on or before October 27, 2014.

Public Notice on Proposed Interpretations of Parts of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012

FirstNet requests public comment on certain proposed interpretations of its enabling legislation that will inform, among other things, forthcoming requests for proposals, interpretive rules, and network policies. With the benefit of the comments received from this Notice, FirstNet may proceed to implement these or other interpretations with or without further administrative procedure. Submit comments on or before October 24, 2014.

Notice of FirstNet Meetings 06/02/2014 - 06/03/2014

On June 2, 2014 between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time there will be sequential meetings of FirstNet’s four Board Committees: (1) Governance and Personnel; (2) Outreach; (3) Technology; and (4) Finance. The full FirstNet Board will hold a meeting on June 3, 2014, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time. Board members will meet in Ballroom 4 of the Westin Westminster Hotel, 10600 Westminster Boulevard, Westminster, CO 80020.

Notice of Recruitment of FirstNet Board Members

NTIA issues this Notice on behalf of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) as part of the annual process to seek expressions of interest from individuals who would like to serve on the FirstNet Board. Four of the 12 appointments of non-permanent members to the FirstNet Board are expiring in August 2014. NTIA issues this Notice to obtain expressions of interest in the event the Secretary must fill any vacancies arising on the Board. Expressions of interest will be accepted until May 23, 2014.

Notice of National Environmental Policy Act Categorical Exclusions

FirstNet publishes this notice of its categorical exclusions (CEs) of actions that FirstNet has determined do not individually or cumulatively have a significant effect on the human environment and, thus, should be categorically excluded from the requirement to prepare an environmental assessment or environmental impact statement under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). These categorical exclusions become effective on April 29, 2014.
