National Public Safety Telecommunications Week – April 13-19

In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, the First Responder Network Authority would like to recognize all of the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting the safety and security of the Nation. Our fire fighters, law enforcement officers, EMS providers, 911 dispatch center personnel and other emergency responders put their heart and soul into protecting and serving those in need.

FirstNet Outreach Update

Yesterday was a busy, informative, and productive day on the outreach front. In addition to hosting the quarterly state Single Point of Contact (SPOC) webinar, we met with staff from two dozen national associations that make up the Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC). Thanks to everyone who participated. FirstNet believes that each state, territory, and public safety stakeholder are critical to the success of our organization, as well as the planning and deployment of a nationwide public safety broadband network.

Another successful IWCE is in the books. Congratulations to the organizers for putting together a strong lineup, including several tracks on the nationwide public safety broadband network. The FirstNet team saw a great deal of innovation and information sharing last week – on the floor of the exhibit hall, during many of the panels and sessions, and in the hallway conversations that took place throughout the convention center. Our General Manager, Bill D’Agostino, shared his initial impressions in a message he posted on the website last Thursday.

The IWCE Conference continues today, with a number of opportunities to learn about the value and progress of FirstNet. This is my first time attending IWCE, and so far it has lived up to expectations, and then some.

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) continued to promote the Authority’s strategic roadmap at this week’s annual International Wireless Conference and Expo (IWCE). FirstNet officials exchanged information with thousands of representatives from the public safety community, agencies from all levels of government, and the vendor community. FirstNet officials also delivered the keynote presentation at Wednesday’s IWCE session, highlighting how current planning and partnership development projects will help equip first responders with state-of-the-art communications tools.
