FirstNet @ IWCE Expo 2017: Sharing the future of public safety communications

Next week, FirstNet heads to Las Vegas to “Make Connections, Make a Difference,” at the 40th anniversary International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) 2017.

At IWCE, held March 27-31, FirstNet will share insight into the latest on the organization and the Network, including current status, next steps, and benefits to public safety and opportunities for industry. The organization also looks forward to continuing the dialogue with the states and territories on the delivery of state plans, as well as the key considerations around the Governor's decision on the plan.

FirstNet speakers are scheduled to be at the following IWCE events to share how the FirstNet network will transform the future of public safety communication:

  • Monday, 2:30 – 5:30 pm: Join FirstNet for a panel on “How FirstNet will work with Next Generation 911” (Room S233)
  • Tuesday, 8:30 – 11:30 am: FirstNet discusses, “What exactly does FirstNet offer?” (Room S233)
  • Tuesday, 2:30 – 5:30 pm: Join a “FirstNet in Review” session with FirstNet leaders and Donny Jackson, Editor of IWCE's Urgent Communications.
  • Wednesday: At 9:15 am - 10:00 am, Check out FirstNet’s keynote address. Then, from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm, hear from FirstNet on the State Plans process.
  • Thursday focuses on FirstNet technology day, with a panel from 10:00 – 11:15 am on “FirstNet Voice Offerings: Dispel the Myths” featuring PSAC Chair Harlin McEwen. Harlin McEwen continues on the 11:30 am – 12:45 pm. panel, discussing “Different Flavors of Priority, Preemption, QoS and SLA: Why It Matters,” while FirstNet CTO staff participate in the “Apps - How Will Public Safety Leverage FirstNet?” panel from 11:30 - 12:45 pm Finally, join FirstNet staff as they discuss the “State of the States: State Plans,” or attend the “The Internet of Public Safety Things,” panel that afternoon. Finish off the afternoon with a FirstNet Town Hall.
  • Friday, wrap up your IWCE experience from 8:15 – 11:00 am with FirstNet experts in an interactive roundtable with Brent Williams (EMS), Bill Hinkle (911), Mike Worrell (fire), and Mike Bostic (law enforcement).
