FirstNet participated in the 80th Annual Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International Conference and Expo in New Orleans last week. The sessions were educational and informative about lessons learned, current best practices and future plans for public safety communications.
"This is an exciting time for public safety…FirstNet looks forward to working together with all of you." – TJ Kennedy, FirstNet’s Acting General Manager
Kennedy provided the keynote to kickoff the conference highlighting progress made as well as challenges we will work through to build a nationwide broadband public safety network. Director of Government Affairs, Edward Parkinson provided an update on the Executive Council Meeting and discussed key issues to consider when deploying and operating the network. In his update, he noted that “APCO is an important partner in our efforts to build the nationwide network. Its annual conference is an ideal forum for having focused discussions around the integration of NG-911 and the public safety broadband network so we can identify potential synergies between them.”
FirstNet Board member Jeff Johnson also attended and spoke at the conference along with several other FirstNet staff.
