RESTON, VA – As part of its ongoing efforts to consult with stakeholders, FirstNet will hold an “Industry Day” on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Eastern Time at the Dallas L. Peck Memorial Auditorium at the US Geological Survey building in Reston, VA. The event will be open to the public and broadcast via webcast. Additionally, FirstNet will begin accepting requests for one-on-one meetings with vendors May 15.

At the event, FirstNet officials will provide an overview of the Special Notice and draft Request for Proposal (RFP) documents that were approved for release by the FirstNet Board and posted to the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website fbo.gov (Reference Number: D15PS00295). The Industry Day will also provide opportunities for interested parties to ask questions and provide feedback to FirstNet on the Special Notice and draft RFP documents.

“This is a key opportunity for members of the public safety community, the vendor community, and the public to engage in a dialogue with FirstNet about our proposed acquisition approach to deploy the nationwide public safety broadband network (NPSBN),” said FirstNet Acting Executive Director TJ Kennedy. “We encourage local, state, tribal, and federal agencies, market participants, and the public to participate in this event and in future opportunities to provide direct feedback to FirstNet on acquisition matters affecting the NPSBN.”

The May 14th Industry Day is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration is required to attend the event in person, as space will be limited. If you are planning to attend onsite, please register by sending an email to FirstNetIndustryDay@firstnet.gov with the name, title, and company/organization for each attendee.

FirstNet will webcast the Industry Day on its website. Pre-registration is not required for the webcast. For questions about Industry Day, please contact FirstNetIndustryDay@firstnet.gov. Instructions on how to make requests for one-on-one meetings will be announced on the Doing Business with FirstNet webpage and on the FBO site. Any and all information pertaining to FirstNet will be posted via FBO. Therefore, please refer to the FBO site frequently for release of information, updates, events, etc.
